In the recently released video from the European Space Agency (ESA) above, experience flying through Hebes Chasma, the northernmost part of Valles Marineris.

Valles Marineris, in fact, dwarfs the grand canyon on Earth. At 2,500 miles long, 125 miles wide and 6 miles deep, it is the largest canyon in the entire solar system.
The movie above takes us through the Hebes Chasma, the northernmost part of the canyon.
This formation is probably linked to the nearby volcanic Tharsis region, the Olympus Mons volcano is located. As you may have guessed, the Valles Marineris is named after NASA’s Mariner 9 Mars orbiter, of 1971–72, which discovered it.
