Technology's Present of the Future

Technology's Present of the Future

⯀ What do people think of when they hear the term "innovative"? An autonomous car? An advanced checkweigher? A smartphone? These inventions are exactly what the term means. The more universal term, however, would be "technology."

Nothing could ever be as innovative, yet controversial as technology. There's no denying that it has had a major impact on today's society. We can certainly argue that it is increasingly more important than other factors that make up our standard of living. One way or another, it affects our daily lives.

By 2012, more than 70% of American households contained a personal computer. The percentages in ownership of other digital devices like smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches have also risen. It's easy to say technology has made us less social and least likely to communicate face-to-face. Along with this, there's the notion that technology produces a generation reigned by laziness. While these conclusions are accurate to a degree, we shouldn't overlook the positive outcomes of technological advances. Technology has enabled us to communicate in ways that we wouldn't have been able to a few decades ago. It has also improved how we learn, how we work, how we treat sickness, etc. These advances in the modern lifestyle wouldn't be effective without our digital devices.

Advanced Communication

When you walk down the street, the most common thing you see is a person on his or her phone. Today, smartphones are the primary source of communication. Before, you couldn't text or email your friends. There weren't apps like Skype and Twitter either. Computers are great sources of communication themselves. What makes smartphones and computers, along with other digital devices, phenomenal is the special connection with Wi-Fi, a wireless technology that connects us to the Internet. The Internet has provided us with a variety of programs that we use to interact with each other from around the globe.

Broader Education

Besides communication, we can use technology for educational purposes. If you need to research a paper, the Internet is available. You can only find so much information on the Web by typing in a few words. Online learning is becoming popular as it has allowed students to expand their education outside the traditional classroom setting. Whether it's their smartphones or tablets, young people watch videos and read articles from cool websites. They can learn from anywhere at anytime while having fun with it.

Health improvements are also a major contribution by technology. New age machines and equipment have assisted doctors with taking better care of patients. Doctors use the equipment for monitoring health elements like blood pressure and heart rate. Research from the Web has provided doctors with the information needed to create vaccines and medicines for treating serious illnesses. Like with education, technology has expanded access to medical information and has allowed people to search the Internet for data on remedies to treat themselves.

Transportation

In many ways, technology has shaped the world of transportation. We have modern cars that enable us to travel long distances. You notice that modern vehicles also include features like GPS, back-up cameras, and Bluetooth. With technological advances, transportation is quicker, safer, and more fun.

Some are quick of us are quick to point out the disadvantages; however, technology has made many positive contributions to the world. We wouldn't be able to do many wonderful things without it. There's a lot we can learn from this invention and how it can be used to benefit future generations. What happens now will mark the path for the future of an advanced society.
